KidSight Screening

Blue Eyes
Iowa KidSight is dedicated to screening and early detection of vision problems in children ages 6 mo through kindergarten...

Iowa KidSight is a joint project of the Lions Clubs of Iowa and the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Cedar Rapids Noon Lions Club screens children year-round under the auspices of the Iowa KidSight program.

In 2019, club member Julie Facion helped us apply for a grant from the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation  (GCRCF) that resulted in grant awards from the GCRCF and the Jay and Bonnie Petersen Fund for Children and the Underprivileged. These funds were used to purchase a new KidSight Camera (pictured are club member Julie Facion along with Barb Taylor and MaryAnn Dawson, co-chairs of our club's KidSight program.)

In 2018 our club screened 2391 children, with 135 referrals for further treatment.
